Description
The Flessen is a five-arm traditional chandelier built around a central polished brass column with a spherical bulb-shaped base, from which five curved arms extend outward and upward, each terminating in an SES candle-style bulb holder. The entire frame is finished in polished brass that reflects ambient light and surrounding room tones, giving the fitting a warm metallic presence.
Designed for dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4-2.7m, entrance halls and smaller reception rooms, the 58cm diameter sits comfortably above a circular or square dining table seating four to six, or can be centred in a hallway of 3-4m width. The chandelier hangs on a brass chain with adjustable drop, allowing the 43cm body height to be positioned 700-900mm above a table surface depending on ceiling clearance. Each arm takes a 60W maximum SES bulb (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED filament candles at 4-6W for period styling or higher-output LEDs for brighter task light.
The polished brass finish is a high-gloss plating that develops a warm golden tone under incandescent or warm-white LED light, and a cooler yellow under daylight. The five-arm symmetry and central globe column reference Dutch and Flemish brass chandeliers of the 17th and 18th centuries, making the Flessen a direct fit for Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian interiors as well as transitional schemes that pair classical proportions with contemporary furnishings. The 3kg weight requires a ceiling rose rated for chandelier loads and a secure joist or mounting point.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Flessen take?
Each of the five arms takes an SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K for a warm period look, or clear filament-style LEDs for visibility of the lamp elements.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 43cm body height plus chain drop typically positions the chandelier 700-900mm above a dining table, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the Flessen if the chain is shortened during installation to bring the base of the fitting closer to the table surface.
Can the brass finish tarnish over time?
Polished brass is plated metal and can develop tonal variation or light tarnish in humid or coastal environments. Regular dusting with a soft dry cloth maintains the finish. If tarnish appears, a brass polish designed for plated surfaces can restore the shine, but test on a small hidden area first.
What size table does it suit?
The 58cm diameter is proportioned for circular tables of 90-120cm diameter or rectangular tables up to 140cm long. Larger tables may benefit from two Flessen chandeliers spaced evenly along the table length, or a larger multi-arm fitting.
