Description
The Flessen is a 21-light solid brass chandelier finished in gunmetal, with curved arms arranged across three tiers around a central turned column. The chandelier measures 80cm across and 88cm from canopy to the bottom finial, with arms radiating in a symmetrical six-six-nine light configuration that creates a layered visual structure. Each arm terminates in a drip pan and candle sleeve holding a single SES (small Edison screw) bulb, sold separately.
Designed for high-ceilinged entrance halls, dining rooms with ceiling heights above 3m, and stairwell voids, the Flessen provides both ambient light and architectural presence. The 12kg weight requires a ceiling fixing rated for at least 20kg and the chandelier should be suspended where it can clear the floor by at least 2.1m when fully installed. The gunmetal finish is a dark grey-brown tone with low reflectivity, sitting between matt black and raw steel in appearance.
The solid brass construction gives the chandelier structural rigidity and prevents flexing on the outer arms even at its 80cm width. The gunmetal finish is applied over the brass rather than being a painted coating, meaning it will not chip or peel under normal use. The central column and ball finial are turned from brass before finishing, giving defined profiles that show clearly against light-coloured ceilings and walls. The muted tone pairs well with concrete, exposed brick, dark timber and industrial-style interiors where polished chrome or bright brass would be too reflective.
Each of the 21 SES bulb positions accepts a maximum 40W bulb (total potential load 840W), though most installations use LED candle bulbs between 2-6W to keep running costs low and reduce heat output. The chain suspension allows the drop to be adjusted during installation to suit ceiling height, and the wiring runs through the chain links concealed from view. The chandelier requires professional installation due to its weight and the number of electrical connections.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take and are they included?
The Flessen takes 21 x SES (small Edison screw, E14 base) bulbs, each up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit LED candle bulbs at 2700K-3000K warm white and 2-6W per bulb to keep heat and running costs low.
What ceiling height is needed?
The chandelier measures 88cm from canopy to bottom finial before adding chain length. For a typical installation with 2.1m clearance below the bottom finial, the ceiling should be at least 3m high. Higher ceilings allow longer chain drops to position the chandelier at the correct scale within the room.
How is the gunmetal finish applied?
The gunmetal finish is applied directly to the solid brass structure rather than being a painted coating. This means it will not chip or peel under normal use, though it can be marked by abrasive cleaners or hard impacts during installation.
Can the drop be adjusted?
Yes. The chandelier is suspended on chain and the drop can be shortened or lengthened during installation by adjusting the number of chain links used. The wiring runs through the chain and must be adjusted at the same time, so this is typically done by the electrician during fitting.
