Description

The Flessen is an 18-light chandelier built from solid brass in a traditional two-tier configuration, with twelve arms on the lower tier and six on the upper tier, all radiating from a turned central stem finished with a spherical drop weight. Each arm terminates in a candle-style drip pan and SES (E14) bulb holder, giving the chandelier an 80cm spread across the widest point of the lower tier. The polished brass finish provides a high-reflectivity surface that catches and redirects both natural and artificial light.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and stairwells with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Flessen sits 600-900mm above a dining table or clears head height in a hallway when the chain is adjusted on installation. The two-tier structure distributes light vertically across a 67cm drop from canopy to base, making the chandelier suited to rooms where ambient light needs to cover both upper and lower zones without relying on a single plane of bulbs. The 8kg weight requires a ceiling rose rated for the load and secure fixing into joists or concrete.

The polished brass develops a natural patina over time unless regularly cleaned, softening the mirror-like finish into a warmer gold tone. The chandelier accepts eighteen SES bulbs up to 40W each (sold separately), with most installations using 4-6W LED candle bulbs at 2700K to replicate the output of traditional filament candles without heat or higher running costs. The chandelier takes eighteen SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) to replicate the look of filament candles with lower running costs.

Is the chandelier dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs used. LED candle bulbs marked as dimmable will work with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Non-dimmable bulbs should not be paired with a dimmer.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 67cm drop from canopy to base suits ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. For dining tables the chandelier typically hangs 700-900mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceilings at 2.8-3.2m. Higher ceilings can accommodate a longer chain drop if needed.

Does the brass tarnish?

Polished brass develops a natural patina over time unless cleaned regularly. To maintain the high-shine finish, wipe with a dry microfibre cloth and use a brass polish every few months. To allow the patina to develop, leave untreated and the finish will soften into a warmer gold tone.
