Description
The Flavia is a 100cm circular wall mirror built from layered mirror segments arranged in a radial swirl pattern around a bevelled central mirror plate. Each of the outer segments is finished with silver leaf detailing that catches light differently depending on viewing angle, creating movement across the frame. The segments alternate between smooth mirror glass and textured silver leaf surfaces, set against a lacquered black MDF backing that provides structural support and visual contrast.
Designed as a feature mirror for bedrooms, entrance halls and living rooms with wall space above 120cm wide, the Flavia works in both contemporary and art deco-influenced interiors. The 100cm diameter makes it large enough to act as a room anchor without requiring a double-height ceiling. The mirror suits walls painted in cool greys, deep blues, charcoal or white where the silver leaf detail can stand out. The 3.5cm projection from the wall gives the piece a three-dimensional presence without encroaching far into the room.
The bevelled edge on the central mirror plate refracts light at the boundary between the central disc and the outer segments, adding depth to what would otherwise be a flat reflective surface. The layered construction gives the mirror a combined weight of 17.4kg, requiring secure wall fixings into masonry or timber studs rather than plasterboard alone. The silver leaf finish on the outer segments shows natural tonal variation inherent to the leafing process, so each mirror displays slightly different light-and-dark patterning across the radial segments.

Frequently Asked
What wall fixings are needed for the 17.4kg weight?
The mirror requires two heavy-duty wall fixings rated for at least 20kg combined load. Fixings should be secured into masonry using wall plugs, or into timber studs behind plasterboard. Plasterboard-only fixings are not sufficient for this weight. The mirror has a hanging bracket on the rear MDF backing.
How is the silver leaf finish maintained?
Wipe the silver leaf segments gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For the mirror glass sections, use standard glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than sprayed directly onto the surface to avoid solution seeping under the segments. Avoid abrasive cloths or chemical polishes on the silver leaf areas.
Does the silver leaf tarnish over time?
The silver leaf segments are sealed during manufacture to slow tarnishing, but natural silver leaf will develop a slightly warmer patina over several years in humid environments or direct sunlight. This is a characteristic of real silver leaf rather than a defect.
What wall colour works best with the silver finish?
The silver leaf detail stands out most clearly against cool greys, deep blues, charcoal or white walls. On warmer-toned walls (creams, beiges, terracotta) the silver can appear cooler and create a higher contrast, which may suit art deco or contemporary schemes but might clash with traditional warm interiors.
