Colven 3 Light Glass Lantern - Antique Brass

The Colven is a 25.5cm diameter cylindrical glass lantern with three SES candle bulbs arranged vertically inside a clear glass cylinder, framed by an antique brass structure with curved arms at the top. The glass panels run the full height of the lantern, giving unobstructed light distribution while the brass frame remains visible through the glass.

Designed for hallways, entrance corridors and landings in period homes or traditional-style interiors, the Colven works best in spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above where the 53cm drop (including chain) reads as proportionate rather than dominant. The 25.5cm diameter suits narrower hallways and secondary circulation spaces where a larger hall lantern would obstruct sightlines. The open glass sides mean the three candle bulbs contribute ambient light rather than concentrated downlight.

The antique brass finish shows a warm, patinated tone rather than bright polished brass, sitting comfortably alongside oak, walnut and mahogany joinery in Georgian, Victorian and Arts and Crafts interiors. The curved brass arms at the canopy and the turned finial at the base add decorative detailing without heavy ornamentation. What bulbs does it take?

The Colven takes three SES (Small Edison Screw, E14 base) candle bulbs, each rated up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for period-appropriate light.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 53cm overall height suits ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. In hallways or landings with lower ceilings the lantern can still be fitted but may benefit from a shortened chain drop to maintain headroom clearance.

Is the glass removable for cleaning?

The glass cylinder is fixed within the brass frame. To clean the internal glass surfaces, the lantern should be removed from the ceiling rose and the glass panels wiped with a soft cloth and glass cleaner while supported on a stable surface.

Does it suit low ceilings?

At 53cm total height the Colven is among the more compact hall lanterns, but it still requires adequate ceiling height to avoid dominating the space visually. Rooms with ceilings below 2.4m may find a flush or semi-flush ceiling light more proportionate.
