Caelis 2 Light Optical Glass Wall Light - Polished Nickel

The Caelis is a 2-light wall light built around a polished nickel square backplate and two symmetrical arms of faceted optical glass, each housing a G9 bulb fitting. The glass arms project from the backplate at opposing angles, and a single cut-crystal droplet hangs from each arm on a polished nickel ball fitting. The optical glass refracts light through its angled facets when the bulbs are lit, creating sharper edge reflections than standard clear glass.

Designed for hallway, bedroom and dining room wall mounting, the Caelis works as a flanking pair either side of a mirror or artwork, or as single accent lighting above a console table or sideboard. The 17cm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of picture frames and mirrors when mounted 150-180cm above floor level, while the 27cm width provides enough visual presence without dominating narrow hallways or alcoves.

The polished nickel finish on the backplate, arms and ball fittings gives a warmer metallic tone than chrome, pairing well with both warm-toned timber furniture and cooler grey or white walls. The faceted optical glass and suspended crystal droplets add decorative detail to the fitting without the full cascade of a traditional crystal wall sconce, making the Caelis suitable for transitional interiors that blend classical and contemporary references. At 2kg the fitting requires secure wall fixings into masonry or timber studs rather than plasterboard alone.

What bulbs does it take?

The Caelis takes two G9 capsule bulbs, each rated up to 33W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for warm ambient or accent light.

Can it be installed on plasterboard walls?

At 2kg the fitting requires secure wall fixings. Plasterboard alone will not support the weight safely — you need either a timber stud behind the plasterboard, a masonry wall, or specialist plasterboard anchors rated for at least 3kg.

What's the difference between optical glass and standard clear glass?

Optical glass is cut with precise facets that refract and split light into sharper edge reflections, similar to how a prism splits white light. Standard clear glass diffuses light more evenly without the same prismatic effect.

Is it suitable for bathroom use?

The Caelis carries no IP rating and is not designed for bathroom zones with direct water exposure. It can be used in a dry bedroom or dressing area adjacent to a bathroom, but not within the regulated bathroom zones themselves.
