Description

The Brunsen is a 230mm-diameter crystal pendant light with a brushed nickel-finish frame suspending three tiers of cut crystal droplets in a conical formation. A single BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulb fitting sits inside the top tier, with light refracting through the crystal as it descends through the tiers. The pendant hangs on a nickel chain from a matching ceiling rose.

Designed for cloakrooms, compact hallways, side-of-stairs landings and small dining nooks with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above, the Brunsen provides decorative accent lighting rather than primary room illumination. The 230mm diameter and 240mm drop make it suitable for spaces where a full-sized chandelier would overwhelm. The pendant can be grouped in multiples over a kitchen island or breakfast bar where ceiling height allows.

The brushed nickel frame has a satin finish that sits between polished chrome and antique silver in tone, pairing with both cool-toned and warm-toned hardware in the same room. Each tier of crystal is suspended on wire links that allow the droplets to move slightly when disturbed by air movement, catching and reflecting available light. The 1kg total weight includes the crystal, frame and chain, requiring a standard UK ceiling rose rated for at least 2kg.

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes a single BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED candle or golf ball bulb between 4-6W and 2700K for ambient light that complements the crystal.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

The 240mm drop from the ceiling rose to the base of the crystal makes the Brunsen workable in rooms with 2.3m ceiling heights when fitted in a corner or against a wall. For open circulation areas, 2.4m or higher is recommended to avoid head clearance issues.

Can multiple pendants be grouped together?

Yes. Three or more Brunsen pendants spaced 600-800mm apart work well over a kitchen island or breakfast bar, provided the ceiling height allows for the drop. Each pendant requires its own ceiling rose and wiring point.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Dust the crystal droplets with a dry microfibre cloth or soft feather duster. For deeper cleaning, remove each tier of crystal and wash gently in warm water with a small amount of washing-up liquid, rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth before reassembling.
