Description

The Brelan is a 5-light strass crystal chandelier built around a tiered gold-finished frame with cascading crystal droplets arranged in five descending rings. The uppermost tier features arched gold arms radiating from a central column, draped with strung crystal beads, while four lower tiers form concentric rings of strass-cut droplets that step inward as they descend. Five BC (bayonet cap) bulb holders sit within the structure, diffusing light through the surrounding crystal.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and stairwells with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the chandelier produces ambient and decorative light simultaneously. The 40cm diameter suits rooms of 12-18m², while the 36cm body height (excluding chain/suspension) allows the fitting to be suspended 600-900mm above a dining table without dominating sightlines. The gold finish on the metalwork provides warm reflections that contrast with the clear crystal facets, particularly under incandescent or warm LED bulbs.

Each tier of crystal droplets is hand-strung onto the gold frame, with individual crystals showing faceted edges and occasional rainbow refractions when lit. The chandelier takes five BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulbs, each up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K-3000K to replicate the traditional incandescent look without the heat output.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 36cm body height (excluding chain) works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above when suspended 600-900mm above a dining table. Higher ceilings can accommodate a longer chain drop for entrance halls or stairwells.

Can the ceiling support this chandelier?

The Brelan weighs 4kg. Standard plasterboard ceilings require a secondary ceiling joist fixing or a spreading plate to distribute the load. Solid ceilings with a traditional ceiling rose can support the weight directly. Consult a qualified electrician before installation if unsure.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool completely. Wipe each crystal droplet individually with a dry microfibre cloth. For more thorough cleaning, remove individual strands of crystal from the frame, wash gently in warm soapy water, rinse, dry fully, and re-hang. Do not use abrasive cloths or spray cleaners directly onto the chandelier while assembled.
