Beveran 2 Light Solid Brass Wall Light - Polished Brass

The Beveran is a two-light wall fitting built from solid brass with a polished finish, featuring scrolled arms extending from a central backplate topped with a turned finial. Each arm holds a BC (bayonet cap) bulb holder fitted with a white candle sleeve, and the backplate mounts flush to the wall with concealed fixings behind the 36cm-high brass structure.

Designed for period and traditional interiors, the Beveran suits hallways, staircases, dining rooms and bedrooms where wall-mounted ambient light is preferred over ceiling pendants. The 26cm projection clears typical dado rails and skirting profiles, positioning the bulbs 260mm out from the wall surface. The symmetrical twin-arm layout works well in pairs flanking doorways, mirrors or sideboards, or as solo fittings where a balanced light distribution is needed without a pendant drop.

The polished brass reflects warm light back into the room and develops a natural patina over time unless periodically polished to maintain the factory shine. The turned central column and scrollwork on the arms reference Georgian and Victorian brass fixtures, but the proportions are calibrated for contemporary room heights of 2.4-2.7m rather than the taller ceilings of original period buildings. At 2.45kg the fitting requires solid wall fixings into masonry or into timber studs behind plasterboard.

What bulbs does the Beveran take?

The fitting accepts two BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulbs, each up to 60W. Candle-shaped LED or filament bulbs in B22 fitting are recommended, typically 4-6W LED equivalent to 40W incandescent, in warm white 2700K. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be fitted to plasterboard walls?

The 2.45kg weight requires solid fixings. On plasterboard walls, locate timber studs behind the plaster and fix into those, or use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated for at least 5kg per fixing point. Masonry walls require standard wall plugs and screws.

Is the brass lacquered or will it tarnish?

Polished brass typically carries a protective lacquer from the factory to slow tarnishing. Over time the lacquer may wear and the brass will develop a natural patina. This can be polished back to a shine using brass cleaner, or left to age for an antique appearance.

What height should it be mounted?

In hallways and staircases, mount the fitting so the centre sits approximately 1.5-1.7m above floor level, which positions the bulbs at eye level or slightly above. In dining rooms flanking a sideboard or mirror, align the centre with the top third of the mirror or furniture piece for visual balance.
