Description

The Beldan is a single-light crystal wall fitting with three tiers of faceted strass crystal drops suspended from a chrome frame. The frame sits 10cm proud of the wall, supporting a cylindrical arrangement of cut-glass prisms that cascade in graduating layers from a decorative chrome canopy ring at the top down to larger octagonal droplets at the bottom. A single BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulb sits behind the crystal, casting light through the glass to create refraction patterns on surrounding surfaces.

Designed for hallways, dining room feature walls, either side of mirrors, or flanking a fireplace, the Beldan adds decorative light without the footprint of a table lamp or the ceiling commitment of a pendant. The 16cm diameter and 20cm height suit narrow wall sections where a larger sconce would overwhelm the proportions. The 1.5kg weight requires fixing into a wall with solid backing or appropriate wall plugs for plasterboard.

The chrome finish on the metalwork provides a cooler tone than brass or gold, pairing well with contemporary grey schemes, monochrome interiors, or traditional rooms where warmer metallics would clash with existing fixtures. What bulb does the Beldan take?

The fitting takes a single BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED candle or golf ball bulb between 4-7W and 2700K for ambient light that highlights the crystal without glare.

Can it be fitted to plasterboard walls?

Yes, but the 1.5kg weight requires appropriate hollow-wall fixings rated to 5kg minimum. On solid brick or block walls, standard wall plugs and screws are sufficient. The fitting comes with a metal backplate that screws directly to the wall.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off at the mains first. Wipe each crystal drop with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For heavier marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the metalwork or getting water into the bulb holder. Do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners on the crystal.

What's the difference between strass crystal and full-lead crystal?

Strass crystal is machine-cut glass with lower lead content, giving consistent faceting and good light refraction at a lower price than hand-cut full-lead crystal. It produces visible rainbow effects when lit but has slightly less brilliance than heritage crystal used in high-end chandeliers.
