Description
The Knightsbridge 45A 1-gang DP switch provides double-pole isolation for cookers, ranges and other high-load appliances rated up to 45A (10,350W at 230V). The switch includes a neon indicator that illuminates when the circuit is live, confirming power status before maintenance or cleaning. The antique brass screwless faceplate measures 87.5mm square and clips onto a separate metal sub-frame.
Designed for residential and hospitality installation, the switch fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth and is typically installed within 2m of the appliance it controls, as required by UK wiring regulations. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral conductors when the switch is off, providing complete circuit isolation rather than just breaking the live line.
The antique brass finish is applied to 201 stainless steel plate, giving a warm aged metallic tone that pairs well with traditional, country and heritage-style interiors. The screwless design hides all fixings behind the cover plate, presenting a clean face to the wall once installed. The neon indicator sits above the rocker and draws negligible current when illuminated.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 9mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What does the neon indicator do?
The neon illuminates when the circuit is live, confirming power status. It remains lit when the switch is in the on position and extinguishes when the switch is off, providing a visual check before servicing the connected appliance.
Is double-pole switching required for cookers?
UK wiring regulations require double-pole isolation for cookers and fixed cooking appliances. This switch isolates both live and neutral conductors when turned off, meeting that requirement.
Can this control multiple appliances?
The 45A rating allows the switch to control one or more appliances provided their combined load does not exceed 10,350W at 230V. Most single domestic cookers fall within this limit, but a cooker with separate oven and hob circuits may require individual switches.
