Description
This Knightsbridge 13A unswitched fused spur with flex outlet is housed in an 81.2mm square metal clad enclosure made from powder-coated SPCC steel. The unit provides a permanent fused connection for fixed appliances, with the flex outlet allowing cable to exit through the faceplate rather than through rear knockouts, simplifying installation where appliances are surface-mounted or where cable runs are visible.
Designed for garages, workshops, utility rooms, plant rooms and commercial installations where surface wiring is standard or where flush mounting is impractical, the metal clad construction provides impact resistance and a more robust alternative to plastic flush plates. The unswitched design means the appliance is permanently live once the fuse carrier is inserted, making this suitable for equipment that should not be easily isolated (e.g. security systems, alarm panels, boilers) or where switching is handled at the appliance itself.
The 13A fuse carrier accepts standard UK BS1362 fuses, allowing the appliance to be fused separately from the ring main. The powder-coated silver-grey finish resists scratches and corrosion in dusty or damp environments better than bare metal, though the IP20 rating means this is for indoor use only or sheltered outdoor locations. The unit is supplied with a matching metal back box, captive terminals that prevent screws from falling out during wiring, and carries a 25-year guarantee.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between unswitched and switched fused spurs?
An unswitched fused spur like this one provides a permanent fused connection — the appliance is live whenever the fuse carrier is inserted. A switched version includes a rocker switch allowing the appliance to be isolated without removing the fuse. Unswitched units are typically used where switching is handled at the appliance or where the equipment should not be easily turned off.
What does the flex outlet do?
The flex outlet is an aperture in the faceplate allowing cable to exit through the front rather than through rear knockouts in the back box. This simplifies surface wiring and is useful when the appliance cable cannot be concealed in the wall.
Can this be used outdoors?
The IP20 rating means this unit is for indoor use or sheltered outdoor locations only. It provides no protection against water ingress beyond solid objects larger than 12mm. For exposed outdoor installation a higher IP-rated enclosure is required.
Is the back box supplied?
Yes. The unit is supplied with a matching metal clad back box. The 44.4mm depth includes the back box projection from the wall once surface-mounted.
