Description
The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur provides permanent appliance connection behind an antique brass screwless faceplate with an integrated neon indicator and matching metal rocker. The fused spur allows hard-wired appliances like ovens, boilers and immersion heaters to be isolated without pulling the mains fuse, with the neon showing when the circuit is live.
Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the spur fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This removes visible screws from the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 13A rating handles loads up to 3,120W on 230V mains, and the unit carries BS 1363-4 certification for UK safety compliance.
The antique brass finish provides a warm, slightly aged metallic tone that pairs well with traditional, Victorian and Arts & Crafts interiors. The 201 stainless steel construction beneath the brass coating resists corrosion in kitchens, utility rooms and other humid environments. The neon indicator sits above the rocker switch and glows red when the circuit is energised, allowing visual confirmation of isolation before servicing connected appliances. Knightsbridge backs this spur with a 25-year guarantee.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between a fused spur and a socket?
A fused spur provides a permanent connection point for hard-wired appliances like ovens, boilers and immersion heaters, whereas a socket accepts a plug and allows appliances to be disconnected. The fused spur allows the appliance to be isolated via the switch without pulling the mains fuse, and the neon shows when the circuit is live.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 9.2mm of projection from the wall once fitted, with a total depth including the back box of 27.7mm.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the spur and re-clipped without re-wiring.
What does the neon indicator show?
The neon glows red when the circuit is energised (live), allowing visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance. When the switch is in the off position or the mains is isolated, the neon goes dark.
