Opaz Large 1 Light Pendant - Smoked Black

The Opaz Large is a 29cm glass sphere pendant with a smoked gradient finish that fades from charcoal at the top to translucent grey at the bottom, suspended from a matt black ceiling rose on an adjustable cable. A single E27 bulb sits inside the glass, and the gradient tint softens the light output while allowing the filament to remain visible through the lower hemisphere.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and lounge areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Opaz works as a solo pendant over a small dining table or in clusters of two or three along longer surfaces. The 45-150cm adjustable drop allows the pendant to be set at the correct height during installation depending on ceiling height and table position. The matt black fittings provide contrast against the smoked glass and pair comfortably with industrial, mid-century and contemporary interiors.

The smoked gradient glass is hand-blown, so slight tonal variation between individual units is normal. The 29cm diameter gives enough visual presence for a 120-140cm round table without overwhelming the space, and the 1.49kg weight sits securely on standard UK ceiling roses. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas only. Pair with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 2700K for a softer glow, or use daylight-white (4000K) for task lighting over work surfaces.

Does the Opaz come with a bulb?

No. The pendant takes a standard E27 bulb up to 20W (sold separately). Most users pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb at 6-10W and 2700K for ambient dining light.

Can it be used in multiples?

Yes. The Opaz works as a solo pendant over a small dining table or in clusters of two or three along kitchen islands or bar counters. Each pendant requires its own ceiling rose and cable run.

What ceiling height is needed?

The cable is adjustable from 45cm to 150cm. For a dining table the pendant typically sits 70-80cm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Opaz if the cable is shortened during fitting.

Is the smoked glass completely opaque?

No. The glass has a gradient tint that fades from charcoal at the top to translucent grey at the bottom. The bulb filament remains visible through the lower hemisphere when lit, and the smoked tint softens rather than blocks the light output.
