Description

The Lumen is a single-light pendant built around a 16cm clear glass globe with a frosted inner sphere, suspended on a matt black stem from a polished gold ceiling rose. The globe houses a single G9 bulb (sold separately) inside the frosted inner sphere, which diffuses the light output while the clear outer shell adds depth and refraction. The 131cm total drop is adjustable on installation.

Designed for cluster installations over kitchen islands, bedside positions in pairs, or as a solo fitting in hallways and entrance areas, the Lumen works where ceiling height allows at least 2.3m clearance when the pendant is at its shortest setting. The matt black stem contrasts against the gold canopy, giving the fitting a two-tone finish that pairs with both warm brass hardware and cooler matt black metalwork in the same space. The compact 16cm globe projects a focused pool of ambient light rather than broad illumination.

The frosted inner sphere sits visibly inside the clear outer globe, creating a sphere-within-sphere effect when the bulb is on. The G9 fitting allows for LED, halogen or capsule bulbs, though LED is recommended to reduce heat buildup inside the glass. At 0.9kg the pendant requires only standard UK ceiling rose fixings without additional structural support. The gold canopy finish is polished rather than brushed, providing a reflective accent against ceilings painted in off-white or grey tones.

What bulb does it take?

The Lumen uses a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs are recommended to reduce heat inside the glass globe. Standard wattage for G9 LED is 3-5W (equivalent to 25-40W halogen output).

Can the drop height be adjusted?

Yes. The 131cm total height includes the ceiling rose, stem and globe. The cable can be shortened during installation to reduce the overall drop, allowing the pendant to sit higher where ceiling clearance is limited.

Is it suitable for clustering?

The compact 16cm globe and narrow stem make the Lumen well-suited to cluster installations. Three or five pendants grouped at staggered heights work over kitchen islands or dining tables. Each pendant requires its own ceiling rose and cable run.

What ceiling height is needed?

At full 131cm drop, a ceiling height of at least 2.4m is recommended to maintain comfortable head clearance below the globe. Lower ceilings can accommodate the Lumen if the cable is shortened on installation to raise the globe higher.
