Description

The Liona is a 30cm pendant light with a smoked glass globe encased in a vertical cage of antique brass fins, suspended on a chain from a circular antique brass canopy. The cage comprises curved vertical ribs that taper from the widest point of the glass globe towards the narrower neck at the top, creating a structured frame around the single ES (Edison screw) bulb fitting inside.

Designed for hallway drops, above kitchen counters in pairs, or as bedside pendants, the Liona pairs the warmth of antique brass with the soft tonal depth of smoked glass. The 40cm height (excluding chain) gives the pendant enough vertical presence to work in rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights when hung with a shorter drop, or can be suspended lower from higher ceilings using the adjustable chain. The single ES bulb (sold separately) sits centrally within the glass, with light diffusing through the smoked tint and escaping between the brass ribs.

The antique brass finish shows a darker, slightly oxidised tone compared to polished brass, sitting closer to aged bronze in visual warmth. This makes the Liona compatible with traditional oak furniture, warm grey walls, and transitional interiors that mix period and contemporary elements. The 3kg weight gives the pendant a solid feel once installed, with the circular canopy fitting standard UK ceiling roses.

What bulb does it take?

The Liona takes a single ES (E27 Edison screw) bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-6W and 2200K-2700K to complement the antique brass and smoked glass.

Can it be used in pairs?

Yes. The 30cm diameter suits symmetrical installations above kitchen islands, bedside tables, or flanking a hallway. When hanging in pairs, a 600-800mm spacing centre-to-centre typically gives balanced visual weight.

How is the drop height adjusted?

The chain can be shortened during installation by removing links before connecting to the ceiling rose. The 40cm body height works well with a 500-700mm drop in standard-height rooms, or can be lowered further in taller spaces.

Does the smoked glass reduce light output?

Yes. The smoked tint softens and diffuses the light compared to clear glass, creating ambient rather than task lighting. The brass cage also absorbs some light. This is suited to mood lighting in hallways, dressing areas and bedrooms rather than workspace illumination.
