Description

The Laurin is a single-light wall fitting built around a copper mesh cylinder enclosed within a clear glass dome, mounted on a circular chrome backplate. The mesh sits inside the glass at a small offset, creating a layered visual effect where the copper weave diffuses light from a central G9 bulb, while the glass outer shell softens the output and protects the mesh from dust.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living room accent walls and hotel corridors, the Laurin provides ambient light rather than task illumination. The 16cm projection from the wall and 15cm diameter suit narrower spaces where a larger sconce would intrude into the walkway. The copper mesh glows warm orange-red when the bulb is lit, contrasting with the cool chrome backplate and clear glass to create a mixed-metal aesthetic that works in both industrial and mid-century interiors.

The fitting weighs 0.5kg and mounts to a standard UK wall box or timber backing. The G9 bulb sits at the centre of the mesh cylinder, so light radiates evenly in all directions before being diffused by the mesh and glass layers. The chrome finish is polished rather than brushed, giving a mirror-like reflectivity that picks up surrounding colours and light from other sources in the room.

The Laurin takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 28W. G9 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED G9 between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb chosen and the dimmer model. LED G9 bulbs marked as 'dimmable' will work with compatible trailing-edge dimmers. Check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer.

How is the glass cleaned?

The clear glass dome can be wiped with a microfibre cloth and standard glass cleaner. The copper mesh inside is sealed within the glass and does not require cleaning. Switch off the light and allow the bulb to cool before cleaning.

What wall box depth is needed?

A standard UK single-gang wall box at 35mm depth is sufficient. The circular chrome backplate covers the wall box and the fitting projects 16cm from the wall once installed.
