Description
The Energizer HDL50 is a 500-lumen LED head torch with an IPX7 waterproof rating, a pivoting head, and six lighting modes. The lamp houses one main white LED, one spot LED and two red LEDs behind a shatterproof lens mounted on an adjustable olive-green headband. The torch runs on three AAA batteries (included in the pack) and delivers a 75m beam distance on high mode.
Designed for camping, hiking, night fishing and workshop use where hands-free lighting is needed, the HDL50 provides high, medium and low white modes plus red flood, red spot and red strobe modes. The red modes preserve night vision when reading maps, setting up camp or checking tackle after dark. The pivoting head tilts downwards to approximately 45 degrees, allowing the beam to be directed at the ground, a workbench surface or a book without adjusting head position.
The IPX7 rating means the torch can be submerged in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes without damage, making it usable in rain, around boats and in wet outdoor conditions. The headband adjusts to fit most adult head sizes and the torch body weighs 140g with batteries fitted, giving a balanced feel across extended wear. The high mode runs for approximately 2 hours on a fresh set of AAA alkaline batteries before dimming.

Frequently Asked
Are batteries included?
Yes. The HDL50 ships with three Energizer Max AAA alkaline batteries pre-packed. The torch is ready to use out of the blister pack.
What does IPX7 waterproof mean?
IPX7 means the torch can be submerged in up to 1 metre of fresh water for 30 minutes without damage. It is rain-proof, splash-proof and suitable for use around water, but it is not designed for sustained underwater operation.
What are the red LED modes for?
Red light preserves night vision by avoiding the blue-white spectrum that triggers pupil constriction. The HDL50 offers red flood for close work, red spot for mid-range tasks, and red strobe for signalling or visibility. Useful when setting up camp, reading maps or moving around at night without losing dark adaptation.
How long does the battery last?
Runtime varies by mode. High mode (500 lumens) runs for approximately 2 hours on three AAA alkaline batteries. Lower modes extend runtime significantly — exact figures depend on battery chemistry and temperature.
