The Energizer 15W PIR LED oval bulkhead combines a polycarbonate housing with an integrated motion sensor and a 15W LED module producing 1,105 lumens at 4000K cool white. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for external walls, garage entries, side passages and covered porch areas where motion-activated lighting is needed.

The passive infrared (PIR) sensor detects movement within its field and switches the LED on automatically, holding the light for a pre-set duration before returning to standby. This reduces running hours compared to dusk-to-dawn fittings and provides security lighting only when someone approaches. The 120-degree beam angle covers a typical domestic doorway or garage door width from a single mounting point 2-3m above ground level.

The black polycarbonate body resists UV degradation and impact better than ABS housings, maintaining its finish and structural integrity through extended outdoor exposure. The oval profile measures approximately 200mm across the longest axis and projects 80mm from the wall once mounted. The fitting weighs 280g and fixes to standard electrical back boxes or directly to masonry with the supplied fixings. The 4000K colour temperature produces a neutral white that renders colours accurately for identifying visitors or navigating outdoor areas after dark.

The integrated LED is rated at 73 lumens per watt, delivering output comparable to a 100W tungsten bulkhead while drawing 15W from the mains. The LED is non-replaceable but carries a long rated life, reducing maintenance frequency on fittings installed in difficult-to-access positions. The IP54 rating qualifies the bulkhead for bathroom zones 2 and 3, allowing installation outside the immediate shower enclosure where occasional water spray may occur.

How does the PIR sensor work?

Can this be used in a bathroom?

It cannot be installed in zone 0 (inside the bath or shower enclosure) or zone 1 (directly above the bath or shower to 2.25m height). It is suitable for general bathroom ceiling or wall mounting outside the immediate wet zones.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 15W LED module is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED carries a long rated life designed to outlast the typical lifespan of the fitting itself, reducing maintenance requirements.

What mounting options does it support?

The bulkhead can be surface-mounted directly to masonry, brick, rendered walls or wooden fascia using the supplied fixings. It will also fit over a standard electrical back box if one is already present. The oval base plate measures approximately 200mm at its widest point.
