Description

The Congress is a 203mm clear glass pendant with a conical shade suspended from brushed caramel metalwork and an adjustable rod. A single E27 bulb sits inside the clear glass cone, which is designed to be used with exposed-filament LED lamps that become part of the visual design when the pendant is both lit and unlit.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and entrance halls where a single pendant provides both task and decorative lighting, the Congress hangs on an adjustable rod with a drop range of 253-902mm. This allows the pendant to be positioned 600-800mm above a worktop or dining table depending on ceiling height. The clear glass shade directs light downwards while allowing the bulb itself to be visible, so the choice of bulb affects the overall appearance.

The brushed caramel finish is a warm mid-tone brass with a soft satin texture that sits between polished brass and antique brass in warmth. The finish pairs with both traditional interiors that use warm woods and heritage colours, and contemporary schemes that mix metals. The 203mm diameter shade gives the pendant enough presence above a 1.2-1.5m dining table or a breakfast bar without overwhelming smaller spaces.

What bulb works best with this pendant?

The clear glass shade is designed to show the bulb, so an exposed-filament LED bulb in either vintage Edison style or squirrel-cage style works best. Choose an E27 LED rated between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K for warm light that complements the brushed caramel metalwork. Standard pear-shaped LED bulbs also work but are less visually interesting when the light is off.

Can the drop be adjusted after installation?

The drop is adjustable on installation by threading the rod through the ceiling canopy to the desired height. Once installed and the excess rod is trimmed, the drop is fixed until the pendant is removed and re-fitted.

What ceiling height is needed?

For a dining table or kitchen island, the pendant typically hangs 700-800mm above the surface. With a minimum drop of 253mm, rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above can accommodate the Congress comfortably. Lower ceilings may still work if the pendant is shortened to the minimum drop during fitting.

Is the glass shade removable for cleaning?

Yes. The glass cone is held in place by the metal collar at the top and can be removed for cleaning or bulb changes. Wipe the glass with a soft cloth and glass cleaner, avoiding abrasive materials that could scratch the surface.
