Description
The Knightsbridge CAT5e RJ45 in-line coupler joins two standard UTP CAT5e network cables without the need to re-terminate or crimp new connectors. The coupler accepts an RJ45 plug at each end, creating a continuous electrical connection that maintains CAT5e performance specifications for data transmission up to 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet).
Designed for extending existing network cable runs in offices, data centres, home networks and commercial AV installations, the coupler is particularly useful when a pre-made patch cable is too short to reach a switch, router or wall socket. The white ABS and polycarbonate housing measures 30mm long by 17mm wide by 22mm high, fitting discreetly behind desks, inside cable trays and within shallow wall boxes.
The IP20 rating confirms protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm, making the coupler suitable for indoor environments but not for outdoor or damp locations. The RJ45 ports are oriented front-to-back rather than side-by-side, minimising the overall footprint when two cables are plugged in. The white finish blends with standard white or light-grey network infrastructure.

Frequently Asked
Does this support Gigabit Ethernet speeds?
Yes. The coupler is CAT5e compliant, which supports data transmission up to 1000Base-T (Gigabit Ethernet) over distances up to 100 metres total cable length.
Can it be used with shielded (STP) cable?
No. This coupler is designed for unshielded twisted pair (UTP) CAT5e cables. For shielded cable installations, a shielded coupler is needed to maintain the shield continuity.
What's the maximum cable run length when using this coupler?
CAT5e specifications allow up to 100 metres total cable length between active devices (switch to PC, for example). Using a coupler mid-run does not change this limit, but the connection quality depends on both cables being within spec and the coupler adding minimal signal loss.
Is it suitable for PoE (Power over Ethernet)?
Yes. The coupler passes all eight conductors, so it supports PoE, PoE+ and PoE++ power delivery as long as the cables themselves are rated for the power load.
