Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a single-gang double-pole isolator with a red neon indicator that illuminates when the switch is in the on position. Rated at 45A on 230V supply, the switch handles loads up to 10.35kW, making it suitable for isolating electric cookers, ranges, and other high-draw fixed kitchen appliances.
Designed for residential and commercial kitchen installations, the switch provides a visible isolation point for cookers and cooking appliances, allowing safe disconnection during cleaning, maintenance or appliance replacement without needing to isolate the entire circuit at the consumer unit. The double-pole switching disconnects both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing complete isolation rather than just breaking the live connection.
The black nickel finish gives a dark metallic appearance with subtle warm bronze undertones, sitting between graphite and oil-rubbed bronze in tone. The premium-grade steel construction provides durability in higher-traffic areas, and the 87.5mm square single-gang format fits standard UK electrical boxes with a minimum 47mm depth. The red neon indicator sits above the rocker switch, visible from across a typical kitchen when the appliance circuit is live.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this switch control?
The 45A rating handles electric cookers, ranges, hobs and ovens with a combined load up to 10.35kW on a 230V supply. It isolates the appliance circuit, not individual components, so a typical installation would have one switch controlling the entire cooker unit.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon above the rocker illuminates when the switch is in the on position, confirming that power is available to the appliance. When the switch is off the neon goes dark, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is isolated.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate itself adds 4.3mm projection from the wall surface once fitted.
Can this control multiple appliances?
Yes, provided the combined load of all appliances on the circuit does not exceed 45A or 10.35kW. A typical installation might control a built-in oven and separate hob wired to the same cooker circuit, with the switch providing a single isolation point for both.
