Description
The Knightsbridge GDM007PC is a 20AX 2-way single-pole key switch module marked EMG LTG TEST, designed for emergency lighting test circuits in commercial buildings, hospitals, schools and residential blocks with fire safety systems. The module accepts a removable key that rotates between OFF and TEST positions, allowing authorised personnel to simulate mains failure and check that emergency lighting batteries hold charge.
The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames from the front without needing rear access or frame removal, making installation and replacement faster than rear-loaded systems. The 20AX rating handles the switched load for multiple emergency light fittings on a single circuit, while the 2-way switching allows the key module to be wired in parallel with other control points if needed. The polished chrome faceplate matches other grid modules in the Knightsbridge range.
Constructed from ABS with internal steel contact components, the module measures 56.3mm high by 24.8mm wide and occupies one grid space on standard 2-gang, 3-gang or 4-gang frames. The 17.3mm recessed depth and 2.5mm projection from the frame give a low-profile finish once clipped in. The supplied key prevents casual tampering with the emergency lighting test circuit, meeting BS 5266 requirements for restricted access to test switches in most commercial installations.

Frequently Asked
Does this module require a separate mounting frame?
Yes. The module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames, which are sold separately. Frames are available in 2-gang, 3-gang and 4-gang configurations depending on how many modules you need to install together. This module occupies one grid space.
What is the key used for?
The key rotates the switch between OFF and TEST positions. In the TEST position the module simulates a mains power failure, forcing emergency lighting to run on battery power so you can check the batteries hold charge. The key prevents unauthorised operation of the emergency lighting test circuit, meeting BS 5266 requirements for restricted access.
What does 20AX rating mean?
20AX is the maximum current the switch can handle - 20 amps on 230V mains. This is sufficient for most emergency lighting circuits containing multiple fittings, provided the total load does not exceed the rating.
Can this be installed in wet or outdoor locations?
No. The module carries an IP20 rating, meaning it is suitable only for dry indoor locations. For bathrooms or outdoor emergency lighting test switches, an IP-rated enclosure would be required around the grid frame.
