Description
The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur combines a 13A fuse holder, an isolation switch, a neon indicator and a flex outlet behind a polished chrome ultra-flat faceplate. The neon glows red when the spur is switched on, providing visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance. The flex outlet aperture at the base of the plate allows a cable to exit the wall directly, typically used for hardwired appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, extractor fans and electric towel rails.
Designed for residential and light commercial installations where an appliance needs a dedicated fused supply that can be isolated without accessing a consumer unit, the spur fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. The switch isolates the supply before the fuse, allowing the fuse to be changed safely without turning off power at the main board. The built-in gasket around the edge of the faceplate provides dust resistance and a flush seal against the wall once installed.
The polished chrome finish provides a reflective metallic surface that pairs with modern and contemporary interiors, particularly in kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms where chrome taps and appliances are common. The ultra-flat construction projects just 2.5mm from the wall, minimising the profile where space is tight or where a low-projection finish is preferred. The plate is manufactured from premium-grade steel and carries a 25-year warranty and BS 1363-4 certification.

Frequently Asked
What is a fused spur used for?
A fused spur provides a dedicated fused supply to a single appliance, typically hardwired equipment such as washing machines, dishwashers, extractor fans, electric towel rails or boilers. The switch allows the appliance to be isolated without turning off power at the consumer unit, and the fuse provides additional circuit protection specific to that appliance.
What does the neon indicator show?
The neon glows red when the switch is in the on position and power is flowing to the fuse and the connected appliance. When the switch is off, the neon is dark, confirming that the supply has been isolated.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The ultra-flat faceplate adds just 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
Can the fuse be changed without turning off the main supply?
The switch should be turned off before changing the fuse, which isolates the supply to the fuse holder. This allows the fuse to be changed safely without accessing the consumer unit, though best practice is to isolate the circuit at the board before working on any electrical fitting.
