Description
The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur unit combines a double-pole switch, neon indicator and flex outlet behind an antique brass square-edge faceplate. The unit controls and protects a fused circuit for a fixed appliance such as an extractor fan, immersion heater, washing machine or fridge freezer, with the flex outlet allowing the appliance cable to exit through the faceplate rather than being routed separately.
Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the fused spur fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and meets BS 1363-4 certification for UK electrical installations. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is off, providing additional safety for high-draw appliances. The red neon indicator visible at the top of the plate glows when the circuit is live, giving a visual confirmation that power is reaching the appliance even when the switch is on.
The antique brass finish is a brushed and darkened brass that shows a mix of warm gold tones and darker oxidised areas, giving a lived-in, heritage appearance that pairs well with traditional, Arts and Crafts and warm-toned country interiors. The square-edge plate sits flush with the wall and includes a built-in gasket that seals against the mounting box, preventing plaster dust from entering the mechanism over time. The faceplate is premium-grade steel with visible fixing screws at each corner.

Frequently Asked
What is a fused spur used for?
A fused spur provides a switched and fused connection to a fixed appliance such as an extractor fan, immersion heater, washing machine, dishwasher or fridge freezer. The fuse protects the appliance circuit independently from the ring main, and the switch allows the appliance to be isolated for servicing without switching off other circuits at the consumer unit.
What does the flex outlet do?
The flex outlet is an aperture in the faceplate that allows the appliance cable to exit through the plate itself rather than being routed separately through the wall or along the surface. This gives a neater finish when the appliance is positioned close to the spur unit.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate projects 10.5mm from the wall once fitted.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon indicator at the top of the plate glows when the circuit is live and the switch is in the on position. This provides visual confirmation that power is reaching the appliance, which is useful when troubleshooting or checking that an appliance is receiving mains supply.
