Description
The Voltis is a 63mm square reflector frame in white polycarbonate, designed as part of Ideal Lux's modular recessed lighting system. The frame acts as the visible trim around a recessed light source, providing a square aperture for the reflector and lamp assembly to sit within. It pairs with separately-sold Voltis adjustable spotlights, fixed downlights, and recessed rings to build a complete recessed lighting fixture tailored to the ceiling depth and beam requirement.
Designed for residential, hospitality and retail ceilings where recessed downlights need to sit flush or near-flush with the plasterboard, the 63mm aperture suits narrow-beam accent lighting over artwork, shelving, kitchen worktops, and retail display cases. The white finish blends into white or off-white ceilings without creating a visual break, while the square profile offers a modern alternative to circular downlight trims. The frame clips into a separately-installed recessed housing, allowing the visible trim to be fitted after ceiling finishing.
The polycarbonate construction resists discolouration from heat better than ABS or cheaper plastics, maintaining its white finish when paired with halogen or higher-wattage LED sources. The 63mm x 63mm face dimension gives a compact footprint that works in tighter ceiling grids or where multiple downlights are spaced at closer intervals. The Voltis system allows frames, reflectors and lamp holders to be mixed and matched across round, square, single, double and triple configurations depending on the lighting design.

Frequently Asked
What does this frame fit with?
This frame is part of the Ideal Lux Voltis modular recessed lighting system. It acts as the visible trim and requires a separate Voltis recessed housing, reflector and lamp holder to create a complete working downlight. Those components are sold separately.
What ceiling depth is needed?
The frame itself has a 63mm projection. The total recessed depth depends on which Voltis lamp holder and housing you pair it with. Most Voltis recessed housings require 80-120mm ceiling void depth for installation.
Can it be painted?
The polycarbonate can technically be painted, but doing so may affect heat dissipation and void the warranty. If a different colour is needed, check whether Ideal Lux offers the Voltis frame in black or other finishes as standard.
Is this frame fire-rated?
The frame alone does not carry a fire rating. Fire-rated performance depends on the complete Voltis assembly including the recessed housing and any intumescent gaskets or back boxes fitted during installation. Consult the Voltis housing specification for fire-rating details.
