Description

The Via Urbana is a 70mm square recessed brick light with an integrated 3W LED producing neutral white 4000K light through a protective glass lens. The fitting is built from die-cast aluminium finished in textured grey, with silicone gaskets around the lens and mounting box giving an IP54 rating against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction.

Designed for outdoor wall installation in pathways, garden steps, driveways and building façades, the Via Urbana sits flush with the mounting surface once installed, leaving only the 70mm square faceplate visible. The recessed LED sits behind an oval aperture cut into the faceplate, casting light downwards or forwards depending on mounting orientation. The light is supplied with a plastic mounting box that sits behind the wall surface and houses the electrical connections, with the faceplate fixing onto the front of the box once wired.

The aluminium body is treated with a corrosion-resistant coating that holds up to coastal and urban environments. The 3W LED draws minimal power while providing enough illumination to mark step edges, guide foot traffic along pathways, or provide low-level accent lighting on outdoor walls. The 4000K colour temperature produces a clean neutral white light that sits between warm residential lighting and cooler commercial tones, working well in contemporary outdoor schemes.

The Via Urbana is part of Maytoni's outdoor recessed lighting range and is also available in white and black finishes. The fitting requires mains voltage connection (AC 220-240V) and should be installed by a qualified electrician, with the mounting box set into the wall structure before final surface finishes are applied.

What does the IP54 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP54 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress (the '5') and splashing water from any direction (the '4'). This makes the Via Urbana suitable for outdoor pathways, garden walls and covered porches, but it should not be installed where it will be submerged or face direct high-pressure water jets.

Can this be installed horizontally or vertically?

Yes. The Via Urbana can be mounted with the oval aperture oriented to cast light downwards (for horizontal pathway lighting), forwards (for vertical wall mounting), or sideways depending on the desired light direction. The IP54 rating applies in any orientation.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for 25,000+ hours of operation, which equates to approximately 11 years of use at 6 hours per day.

What installation depth is needed?

The plastic mounting box supplied with the fitting requires a recess depth of approximately 50-60mm behind the finished wall surface to accommodate the box and electrical connections. The faceplate then sits flush with the wall finish.
