Description

The Solana is a 10-light linear pendant built around an 810mm matt black metal frame that arranges ten smoked Pyrex glass globes in a branching molecular pattern. Each globe houses a G9 bulb (sold separately), and the smoked glass diffuses the light output while remaining translucent enough to show the bulb filament when lit.

Designed for installation above kitchen islands, dining tables and open-plan living areas where ambient and decorative lighting combine, the Solana works in spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The 810mm length suits island worktops of 1.5-2m and dining tables seating four to six. The fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible G9 LED bulbs and a suitable dimmer switch, allowing control over light intensity for meal preparation versus dining. The suspension cable length is adjustable on installation to set the correct drop above the worktop or table surface.

The matt black powder-coated frame gives the fitting an industrial-contemporary appearance that pairs with exposed brick, concrete, dark wood and monochrome interiors. The ten globes are arranged asymmetrically across the frame in varying sizes, creating visual interest when viewed from different angles. The smoked Pyrex glass adds depth without blocking the light entirely, producing a warm ambient glow rather than direct downlight. The fitting carries an IP20 rating, restricting it to dry indoor locations only.

The fitting takes ten G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) between 3-5W are the typical choice for residential installation, providing sufficient brightness while keeping heat output low.

Is the Solana dimmable?

Yes, when paired with dimmable G9 LED bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. Check that both the bulbs and the dimmer are rated for LED loads before installation to avoid flickering or buzzing.

What installation height is recommended?

For kitchen islands and dining tables, the bottom of the glass globes should sit 700-900mm above the worktop or table surface. This allows clearance for people sitting at the table while keeping the light source low enough to provide directed illumination.

Can the smoked glass globes be cleaned?

Yes. Switch off the power at the consumer unit before cleaning. The glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and dried immediately. For more stubborn marks, a small amount of glass cleaner on the cloth is acceptable, but avoid spraying directly onto the fitting.
