Description

The Orlix Medium is a 300mm spherical table lamp built from acid-etched blown glass on a chrome-finished metal base. The white glass sphere is mouth-blown and treated with acid to create a translucent, frosted surface that diffuses light evenly in all directions. A single E27 bulb inside the sphere (sold separately) creates ambient room lighting rather than directed task light.

Designed for bedside tables, console tables, desks and sideboards where soft ambient lighting is needed, the Orlix Medium stands approximately 300mm tall including the base and suits rooms where a full-size floor lamp would be too tall or a smaller table lamp insufficient. The included cable has an inline rocker switch, so the lamp can be turned on and off without reaching behind furniture or unplugging from the wall. The 300mm diameter fits comfortably on surfaces 400mm wide or larger without overhanging.

The chrome base gives the lamp enough weight to remain stable on flat surfaces without needing to be fixed in place, and the metal ring at the base of the glass sphere conceals the lampholder and wiring. The acid-etched finish on the glass hides the bulb filament or LED array inside, so the lamp presents as a glowing sphere rather than showing the internal fitting. The IP20 rating confirms indoor-only use — not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor installation.

What bulb does it take?

The lamp takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient bedroom or living room lighting.

Is the lamp dimmable?

The lamp itself is not dimmable. If you need dimming capability, you would need to use a dimmable E27 bulb paired with a compatible in-line dimmer switch or dimmer wall socket, but this is not included and compatibility is not guaranteed.

How is the lamp switched on and off?

The cable includes an inline rocker switch, allowing the lamp to be turned on and off without reaching the wall socket. The cable also has a standard UK 3-pin plug.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating confirms indoor dry-room use only. It cannot be used in bathrooms, outdoor settings, or any location where moisture or water spray is present.
