Description

The Orlix Large is a 400mm spherical table lamp with a white acid-etched blown glass diffuser set on a metal base. A single E27 bulb inside the sphere (sold separately) casts light through the etched glass, diffusing it evenly across the surface to create ambient glow rather than directed beam light. The metal base provides ballast and conceals the cable entry point.

Designed for sideboards, console tables, bedroom nightstands and low shelving where a substantial light source is needed without a tall vertical profile, the Orlix sits 400mm high and wide — large enough to anchor a surface visually while remaining compact enough for bedside use. The integrated inline switch on the power cable removes the need to reach behind the lamp or use a wall switch. The IP20 rating confirms indoor-only use.

The acid-etched finish on the blown glass gives the sphere a soft matte white appearance when unlit and prevents glare when the bulb is on, making it comfortable to have in a direct line of sight from a sofa or bed. The sphere sits in a shallow metal collar rather than being fully enclosed, allowing some light to escape downwards onto the surface beneath. Ideal Lux manufactures the Orlix in Italy and backs it with a five-year warranty.

What bulb does it take?

The Orlix takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair it with a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or living room lighting. The specification does not confirm dimmer compatibility, so contact us before pairing with a dimmer switch.

How tall is the lamp?

The 400mm diameter sphere sits on a metal base, giving an overall height of approximately 400-420mm depending on the exact base profile. This makes it suitable for nightstands, sideboards and console tables where a medium-height light source is needed.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating confirms indoor use only. The lamp is not protected against moisture ingress and should not be placed in bathrooms, covered outdoor areas or anywhere exposed to rain or high humidity.
