Description
The Orlena is a 500mm alabaster floor lamp built around a single spherical shade cut from natural Spanish alabaster, set on a solid copper base in a soft white finish. Three E27 lamp sockets sit inside the globe, lighting the stone from within so the alabaster itself becomes the diffuser. The shade carries visible cream and grey-green mineral veining that runs in a band through the centre of the sphere.
As a tall floor-standing fixture with a 500mm-diameter shade, the Orlena suits living rooms, bedrooms, reading corners and entrance halls where it functions as both ambient lighting and a sculptural floor object. The globe form reads cleanly from any angle, which makes it a good fit for open-plan rooms where the lamp is seen from multiple sides. Three E27 sockets give significantly more light output than a typical single-bulb floor lamp, allowing the Orlena to act as primary lighting in smaller rooms.
The shade is cut from a solid block of Spanish alabaster, so each Orlena shows a different pattern of veining, banding and translucency depending on the section of stone the sphere was machined from. When unlit, the surface reads as soft cream-white with subtle grey-green mineral lines. Once switched on, the natural variation in stone density makes some areas glow more brightly than others, giving the globe internal depth rather than an even glass-like wash.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Orlena take?
The lamp uses three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. For a warm ambient glow through the alabaster we suggest 2700K-3000K LED bulbs around 6-8W each. Avoid high-wattage filament bulbs that may generate excess heat inside an enclosed shade.
Will every Orlena look the same?
No. The shade is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining pattern, banding and translucency vary between individual lamps. The cream and grey-green mineral lines visible in the photographs are characteristic of the stone rather than a fixed pattern.
Is the alabaster fragile?
Alabaster is a natural stone and is more brittle than glass or marble. The shade should be handled with care during unpacking and installation, supported from underneath rather than by an edge. In normal use on a stable floor it requires no special care.
How is the alabaster cleaned?
Wipe with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid household sprays, polishes and chemical cleaners, as alabaster is porous and can be marked by liquids. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but do not soak the stone.
