Description
The Future is a 98cm geometric cat sculpture constructed from fibreglass and polyester resin, finished in a reflective gold paint. The cat is modelled in a seated posture with angular facets replacing traditional curves, creating a low-polygon digital aesthetic rendered in physical form. The sculpture measures 55cm wide and 75cm deep at the base, with the head rising to 98cm from ground level.
Designed for outdoor placement on patios, in gardens, or at building entrances where a contemporary statement piece is wanted. The fibreglass construction withstands outdoor conditions without the weight penalties of stone or bronze, making it suitable for roof terraces and areas where structural load is a consideration. The 13.2kg weight provides stability in moderate wind without requiring fixings, though the sculpture can be weighted or secured if placed in exposed positions.
The gold paint finish catches and reflects daylight throughout the day, creating different tonal effects as the sun angle changes. The faceted surfaces produce sharp shadow lines at midday and softer gradients in morning and evening light. The angular geometry contrasts with organic garden planting, or complements minimalist landscaping with gravel, clipped hedges and architectural greenery. The sculpture works as a solo piece or can be paired with other geometric animal forms from the Schuller collection to create a grouped installation.
Fibreglass outdoor sculptures benefit from occasional cleaning with water and a soft brush to remove dust and organic debris that can dull the finish. Avoid abrasive cleaners or high-pressure washing, which can damage the paint layer. The material is UV-stable but prolonged direct sunlight over multiple seasons may gradually lighten the gold tone.

Frequently Asked
Is the sculpture suitable for year-round outdoor use?
Yes. The fibreglass and polyester construction is designed for outdoor conditions. The material resists moisture, frost and temperature variation better than ceramic or plaster. For maximum longevity, place the sculpture in a sheltered position away from prolonged direct rain exposure where possible, or bring it under cover during extended winter wet periods.
Does it need to be fixed to the ground?
Not necessarily. The 13.2kg weight provides stability on flat surfaces in typical garden conditions. In exposed positions subject to strong wind, or on sloped paving, you may wish to secure the base using adhesive pads or discreet fixings through the base aperture if one is present.
How is the sculpture cleaned?
Rinse with a garden hose or wipe with a damp cloth and mild soapy water. Use a soft brush for dust in the angular recesses. Avoid high-pressure washers, abrasive pads or solvent-based cleaners, which can damage the gold paint finish.
Can it be placed on grass or soil?
It can, but the sculpture sits more securely on a hard, level surface such as paving, decking or gravel. On grass or soil the base may sink slightly over time depending on ground conditions, and the underside will be more exposed to moisture.
