Description

A candle lantern, 81cm tall, in black. At 19cm wide it is about the width of a laptop. Candlelight works at eye level or below, which is why holders belong on a table, a mantel or a low shelf rather than high on a wall.

Dark surfaces show dust and light surfaces show marks. Which is the easier problem depends entirely on the room, and dust is usually the easier one. Glass reads differently depending on what is behind it, which is why the same piece looks warm against a painted wall and cool against a window. It also means it wants cleaning more often than an opaque finish does. Steel carries a load through a thinner section than any timber can, which is why a steel frame can look this light and still not flex. Powder-coated, it takes a knock as a chip rather than a dent.

Check the aperture against the candle you actually burn. A dinner candle, a taper and a pillar are three different diameters and a holder takes one of them.

It needs nothing beyond dusting, and a damp cloth on the finish rather than anything solvent.
