Description
The Ridmore is a 12-light crystal chandelier built on a solid brass frame, with each of twelve curved arms radiating from a central turned column and terminating in an upward-facing candle-style holder. Strings of faceted crystal droplets cascade between the arms, draped from the brass bobeches and swaged in loops between each arm. The polished brass finish is warm-toned and reflective, contrasting with the clear crystal to create scattered light when the chandelier is illuminated.
Designed for formal dining rooms, entrance halls with ceiling heights above 3m, and double-height reception spaces, the Ridmore suits traditional, Georgian and classical French-influenced interiors where symmetry and ornamentation are key. The 75cm diameter and 63cm body height give the chandelier presence in large rooms without overpowering smaller dining tables — typically suitable for dining tables 1.8-2.4m in length when hung 75-90cm above the surface. The chandelier takes twelve SES (E14) bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately.
Each arm is curved outward and upward from the central column, forming a wide bowl shape that distributes light across the room rather than directing it downward. The crystal droplets are hand-strung onto brass chains and pinned to the frame, giving the chandelier a 6kg total weight — heavier than wire-frame crystal fittings but lighter than all-crystal vintage pieces. The polished brass requires occasional buffing to maintain reflectivity, using a dry microfibre cloth or a brass-specific polish for more thorough cleaning. The crystal droplets can be wiped with a barely-damp cloth when dust accumulates.
The Ridmore is part of Impex's solid brass chandelier range, manufactured to traditional methods using cast brass components rather than plated steel. The turned column, the decorative finials, and the arms are all solid brass throughout, which means the finish can be maintained or professionally re-polished over decades of use without exposing a different base metal underneath.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling height is needed?
The chandelier body is 63cm tall, plus chain or rod suspension. For a dining table, the bottom of the chandelier typically sits 75-90cm above the table surface, which requires a ceiling height of approximately 2.6-3m or higher depending on the table height and desired drop. For entrance halls or stairwells with double-height ceilings, the chandelier can be suspended lower into the space to create a focal point.
What bulbs does it take?
The Ridmore takes twelve SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit 25W or 40W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K) to match the polished brass tone.
How is the crystal cleaned?
The crystal droplets can be wiped with a barely-damp microfibre cloth when dust accumulates. For thorough cleaning, individual droplets can be removed from their brass chains, washed in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid, rinsed and dried, then re-hung. Avoid chemical sprays directly on the crystal as they can leave residue.
Is the brass solid or plated?
The frame, arms, column and decorative finials are solid brass throughout, not plated steel. This means the polished finish can be maintained or professionally re-polished over decades without exposing a different metal underneath.
