Description

The Petala is a 5-light chandelier built around a central nickel-plated column with five curved arms extending outward, each arm terminating in a fluted glass cup housing a G9 bulb fitting. Cascading Strass lead crystal drops hang from each arm and swag between them, creating layered curtains of cut crystal around the nickel frame. The total diameter is 36cm and the chandelier stands 34cm tall from canopy to lowest crystal.

Designed for dining rooms, hallways and sitting rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Petala pairs with ceiling roses up to 500mm above the dining table or 2m-2.2m above floor level in an entrance hall. The five G9 bulb fittings (bulbs sold separately) provide directed downlight through the glass cups while the crystal drops refract and multiply the light output across the room. The nickel finish gives a cool metallic tone that pairs with grey, taupe and white schemes without the warmth of brass or bronze.

Each of the five arms curves upward from the central stem in a petal-like formation, giving the chandelier its name. The Strass crystal drops are lead crystal cut with multiple facets, so they catch and bend light from multiple angles rather than hanging as smooth beads. The fluted glass cups diffuse the bulb glare while still allowing enough direct light for dining or task lighting in a hallway. At 2kg total weight, the chandelier requires a secure ceiling fixing capable of supporting at least 5kg.

The chandelier takes five G9 capsule bulbs with a combined maximum load of 33W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 3W or 4W warm-white LED G9 bulbs at 2700K-3000K for dining room use.

What ceiling height is needed?

The chandelier is 34cm tall excluding the chain or rod. For dining tables it typically hangs 700-900mm above the table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the fitting if the suspension is shortened during installation.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool fully before cleaning. Remove dust with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. For deeper cleaning, wipe individual crystal drops with a barely-damp microfibre cloth and distilled water, then dry immediately with a lint-free cloth. Do not spray cleaners directly onto the chandelier.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs used. If you fit dimmable LED G9 bulbs, the chandelier can be controlled by a compatible LED dimmer switch. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before pairing with a dimmer.
