Description

The Louven is a 12-light crystal chandelier built around a polished brass central column with two stacked tiers of curved arms, each supporting a candle-style SES bulb in a clear upright sleeve. Hand-cut crystal leaf pendants and hanging prisms are fixed along each arm and around the perimeter, refracting light across multiple planes when the chandelier is lit.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and reception rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the chandelier measures 69cm across and 75cm from canopy to base pendant, requiring sufficient clearance both horizontally and vertically. The polished brass frame provides a warm metallic base that contrasts with the cut crystal, which reflects both the bulb light and any natural light entering the room during the day. The 9kg weight requires a ceiling joist or secure fixing plate capable of supporting the load.

Each of the twelve arms holds a separate SES bulb (sold separately) with a maximum wattage of 40W per socket, giving flexibility to choose LED or filament bulbs depending on preferred light temperature and dimmer compatibility. The hand-cut crystal pendants vary slightly in their facet angles and edge detailing, as is typical with hand-cut rather than moulded crystal. The polished brass finish develops a natural patina over time unless regularly polished to retain the high-gloss appearance shown in the product photograph.

What bulbs does the Louven take?

The chandelier takes twelve SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, each with a maximum rating of 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a balance of light output and energy efficiency.

What ceiling height is needed?

The chandelier is 75cm from canopy to the base pendant, and the 69cm diameter requires sufficient radial clearance. For installation above a dining table the base of the chandelier typically sits 75-90cm above the table surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above.

Is the chandelier dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs fitted. LED bulbs require a compatible LED dimmer, while filament bulbs work with standard trailing-edge dimmers. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before pairing with a dimmer switch.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off the power and allow bulbs to cool. Remove dust with a dry microfibre cloth or soft brush. For deeper cleaning, spray a small amount of distilled water or specialist crystal cleaner onto a cloth and wipe each pendant individually, then dry immediately with a clean cloth to avoid water marks.
