Description
The Karsen is a 97cm diameter crystal chandelier with 17 candle-style arms arranged in two tiers around a central gold-finished metal frame. Each arm holds an SES (E14) bulb socket (bulbs sold separately, maximum 25W each) beneath a scalloped crystal bobeche, and the frame carries hundreds of precision-cut Czech crystal droplets, pendants and rosettes that cascade around and below the arms.
Designed for double-height entrance halls, formal dining rooms and reception areas with ceiling heights of 3m or above, the chandelier hangs on a chain-and-stem suspension that positions the main body 65cm from the ceiling rose to the lowest crystal point. The 97cm spread and 26kg weight require professional installation into a ceiling joist or structural fixing, and the dense arrangement of crystal elements means the fitting projects significant presence even when unlit.
The gold finish on the metal armature provides a warm backdrop to the clear crystal, which is hand-cut in the Czech Republic using traditional chandelier production techniques. The crystal droplets are a mix of faceted prisms, almond-cut pendants and decorative rosettes, each selected to catch and scatter light when the chandelier is illuminated. The upper stem rises above the main body with additional crystal collars and terminates in a decorative loop and finial.
The curved arms and layered crystal arrangement give the Karsen a classical European chandelier profile that suits period properties, traditionally styled interiors and formal architectural settings where ornamentation is part of the design language. At 26kg, the fitting requires ceiling reinforcement beyond a standard plasterboard fixing.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling height is needed?
The 65cm drop from ceiling rose to lowest crystal point, combined with the 97cm diameter spread, means the chandelier works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 3m or above. In double-height entrance halls or rooms with 4-5m ceilings, the chandelier can be centred at a height that allows clearance below while remaining visually proportionate to the space.
What bulbs does it take?
The chandelier takes 17 SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, maximum 25W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use candle-style LED bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) to mimic traditional chandelier lighting while minimising heat and energy use.
How is the chandelier installed?
At 26kg, the Karsen requires professional installation with a ceiling fixing into a structural joist or reinforced mounting plate. Standard plasterboard ceiling roses cannot support this weight. The chandelier hangs on a chain-and-stem suspension that conceals the cable run, and the chain length can be adjusted during installation to suit the room height.
How is the crystal maintained?
The crystal droplets can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth while the chandelier is switched off and cool. For deeper cleaning, individual crystal pieces can be removed, washed in lukewarm water with a small amount of washing-up liquid, rinsed in distilled water, and dried with a lint-free cloth before re-hanging. Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the chandelier while it is assembled.
