Description
The Herlow is a 3-light chandelier built around a polished nickel frame with cascading Strass lead crystal chains arranged in a three-tier waterfall formation. The upper section narrows into a tapered cone of crystal strands, while the lower tiers form stepped rings that widen gradually, creating a compact silhouette 32cm wide by 57cm tall. Three BC (bayonet cap) bulb holders sit within the middle tier, each rated for up to 60W.
Designed for spaces where a traditional chandelier would overwhelm, the Herlow suits entrance halls with 2.4-2.7m ceiling heights, dining rooms seating four to six people, and landing zones at the top of stairs. The 32cm diameter keeps the fitting clear of doorways and circulation routes, while the 57cm drop allows it to hang 700-800mm above a dining table or 1.8-2m above floor level in a hallway without encroaching on headroom. The nickel frame and crystal combination works in both cool-toned interiors with greys and steels, and in warmer schemes where the metallic finish adds contrast.
The Strass lead crystal is heavier and more refractive than standard glass crystal, producing sharper prismatic effects when lit. Each crystal element is individually hung on the nickel frame, so the chandelier produces subtle movement and sound when air circulates in the room. The polished nickel finish on the metalwork is brighter and cooler than brass or bronze alternatives, making it better suited to contemporary classical interiors than period reproductions. At 3kg the chandelier requires a ceiling rose capable of supporting at least 5kg, and the suspension chain can be shortened during installation to adjust the final drop height.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Herlow take?
The chandelier has three BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulb holders, each rated for up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with three 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K) or daylight (4000K) depending on the room's use.
Is it suitable for a low ceiling?
The 57cm drop works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. The suspension chain can be shortened during installation to reduce the drop further if needed. For dining table use, aim for 700-800mm clearance between the table surface and the bottom of the chandelier.
What's the difference between Strass crystal and standard glass crystal?
Strass lead crystal contains a higher percentage of lead oxide, giving it greater weight, clarity and refractive index than standard glass crystal. This produces sharper rainbow prismatic effects when the chandelier is lit and catches natural or artificial light.
How is the crystal cleaned?
Switch off and allow bulbs to cool completely. Remove dust with a dry microfibre cloth or a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, wipe individual crystal elements with a barely-damp cloth and distilled water, then dry immediately. Do not use spray cleaners or immerse the chandelier in water.
