Description
The Flessen is a 9 light chandelier built on a solid brass frame in a pewter finish, with a central turned column and two tiers of curved arms radiating outward in a symmetrical arrangement. The upper tier carries three candle-style SES fittings, the lower tier carries six, and each arm terminates in a brass drip pan and candle sleeve. A turned spherical finial hangs beneath the lower tier, balancing the visual weight of the upper column.
Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and stairwells with ceiling heights of 2.7m or higher, the Flessen provides ambient light distributed across a 71cm spread. The two-tier configuration means the lower arms sit approximately 20cm below the upper arms when hung, creating depth without excessive vertical drop. The 64cm overall height from canopy to finial suits standard-height ceilings without overwhelming the vertical space. Bulbs are sold separately and the chandelier accepts up to 60W per SES socket.
The pewter finish is a mid-tone grey-brown that sits between polished nickel and aged brass, providing a softer alternative to bright chrome or the warmth of polished brass. The finish works across traditional and transitional interiors, pairing comfortably with period plasterwork, oak furniture, grey-toned walls and heritage-style colour schemes. The solid brass construction gives the fitting a 4.5kg presence, requiring a ceiling rose rated for the combined weight of the chandelier and nine fitted bulbs.
Each arm is individually curved and fixed to the central column, with subtle scrollwork at the joins and a consistent curve profile across all nine arms. The geometry is traditional Dutch chandelier style, referencing 17th-century brass lighting designs without ornate embellishment. Pair with dimmable LED candle bulbs at 2700K for control over light levels during dining or evening use.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Flessen take?
The chandelier takes SES (Small Edison Screw, E14 base) bulbs, up to 60W per socket. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with LED candle bulbs in the 4-6W range at 2700K for a warm traditional glow.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you choose. LED candle bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers. The chandelier itself has no electronic components that would prevent dimming.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 64cm drop from canopy to finial suits ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. For dining tables, the chandelier typically hangs 750-850mm above the table surface, requiring a ceiling height of approximately 3m when accounting for table height and chandelier drop.
How is the pewter finish maintained?
Pewter-finished brass does not require polishing like raw brass. Dust the arms and central column with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or metal polishes, which can strip the applied finish and expose the base brass underneath.
