Description
The Flessen is a 3-light solid brass chandelier built in the Dutch Colonial style, with three curved arms extending from a turned central column finished in antique brass. Each arm terminates in a candle cup holding an SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulb, with a maximum load of 60W per fitting. The central column features a spherical bulb at its base and a turned stem with traditional profiling above, giving the chandelier a sculptural presence despite its compact 43cm diameter.
Designed for smaller dining rooms, hallways, and period sitting rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4-2.7m, the Flessen provides directional ambient light through three points without dominating the space visually. The 43cm drop from ceiling rose to bottom finial works in rooms where a larger chandelier would feel heavy or intrude into circulation zones. The curved arms give approximately 40cm spread, sitting comfortably above a round table of 80-100cm diameter or in a 3-4m entrance hall.
The antique brass finish is a hand-applied patina over solid brass metalwork, giving the fitting a warm, aged tone that pairs with oak furniture, heritage wall colours and period architectural detailing. The surface shows subtle variation in tone across different parts of the casting, a characteristic of the finishing process rather than inconsistency. At 1.5kg the chandelier is light enough to hang from most UK ceiling roses without additional support, though the solid brass construction gives it more substance than pressed-metal alternatives at this price point.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Flessen take?
Each of the three arms takes an SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with candle-shaped LED bulbs in warm white (2700K) to maintain the period aesthetic while reducing running costs.
What table size does this suit?
The 43cm diameter works above round tables of 80-100cm diameter or rectangular tables up to 120cm length. For larger dining tables, consider a 5-light or larger chandelier to maintain visual balance.
Is the antique brass finish sealed?
The antique brass is a hand-applied patina finish. It is not lacquered or sealed, so the patina may develop further with age and handling. This is a characteristic of traditional brass finishing. To maintain the original tone, wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid touching the metalwork with bare hands during installation.
Can this be installed on a sloped ceiling?
The Flessen hangs from a standard ceiling rose on a short chain. It can be installed on sloped ceilings using an angled ceiling rose adapter, which compensates for the angle and keeps the chandelier level. Adapters are sold separately.
