Description

The Bonelle is an 87cm hand-painted grey chandelier with twelve candle-style arms arranged in two tiers around a central column. Six arms curve outward from the upper tier, six from the lower, each terminating in an SES lamp holder set on a drip-pan bobèche. The central column is built from turned spheres and baluster sections in the same matte grey finish, giving the fitting a classical Flemish silhouette without polished metallic surfaces.

Designed for dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.8m or above, stairwell voids and double-height entrance halls, the Bonelle provides overhead light across a wide spread without needing multiple ceiling points. The 85cm drop including the chain sits the lower tier of arms at approximately 2m above floor level when hung from a standard 2.7m ceiling, leaving adequate head clearance for circulation underneath. The two-tier arrangement distributes light both upward (reflected off the ceiling) and downward (direct onto the table or floor surface below).

Each arm is hand-painted in a matte grey that sits between warm stone grey and cooler charcoal, depending on ambient light temperature. The paint finish eliminates reflections and glare, making the chandelier function as a tonal mass rather than a reflective accent. At 8kg the fitting requires a ceiling rose rated for the load and secure fixing into a joist or structural ceiling material. Bulbs are sold separately; most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K to replicate the appearance of traditional candle glow without the heat or energy cost of incandescent equivalents.

Each of the twelve arms takes an SES (E14 small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For the appearance of traditional candlelight without high energy use, pair the chandelier with LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K warm white.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 85cm drop including chain and ceiling rose means the chandelier sits approximately 2m above floor level when hung from a standard 2.7m ceiling. For dining tables, this provides adequate clearance without the lower tier interfering with sightlines across the table. For stubborn dust buildup, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the painted surfaces or using household sprays.
