Description

The Alvera is a 46cm round crystal chandelier with nine G9 bulb fittings arranged around a polished chrome frame, surrounded by two concentric tiers of cut crystal prisms. The upper tier comprises vertical rectangular crystals, whilst the lower tier uses smaller faceted beads that cascade in a curtain effect, refracting light from the inner bulbs across the room.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and stairwell voids where a central ceiling fitting provides the primary light source, the Alvera pairs ambient brightness with decorative presence. The 18cm height and 46cm diameter suit ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, with the circular footprint providing even light distribution across a 3-4m dining table or entrance hall floor. The suspension cables are adjustable on installation, allowing the fitting to be raised or lowered depending on room proportions.

The polished chrome finish on the canopy and frame provides a reflective surface that amplifies the sparkle from the crystals when the lights are on. The combined weight of the chrome structure and crystal tiers gives the fitting a 5.3kg presence, requiring a ceiling rose or junction box rated for this load. Each of the nine G9 fittings accepts bulbs up to 28W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or energy-saving variants depending on the desired brightness and colour temperature.

The fitting uses nine G9 capsule bulbs, each rated up to 28W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with LED G9 bulbs between 3-5W per socket, offering the equivalent of 250-400 lumens per bulb and a combined output of 2,250-3,600 lumens across all nine fittings.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen. G9 LED bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most leading-edge dimmers, whilst non-dimmable LEDs and halogen G9s may flicker or fail to dim smoothly. Check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer switch.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 18cm fixture height plus suspension cables suit rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For dining tables the fitting typically hangs 700-800mm above the table surface, requiring a total floor-to-ceiling height of approximately 2.5m or higher once the table and chairs are factored in.

How are the crystals cleaned?

Switch off the mains power before cleaning. Use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe each crystal prism individually, working from top to bottom to avoid redistributing dust. For stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or letting moisture enter the bulb sockets.
