Description

The Alvera is a 5 light square crystal chandelier with a polished chrome frame supporting two tiers of cut crystal prisms arranged in a square structure measuring 31cm across and 18cm deep. Five G9 bulb fittings sit inside the frame (bulbs sold separately), positioned so their light reflects through the crystal layers to create prismatic scatter and flash across the facets.

Designed for smaller dining tables, bedroom ceilings and hallways where a compact crystal fitting is needed without the scale of a full chandelier, the Alvera provides a concentrated light output within a structured geometric footprint. The square canopy at ceiling level measures approximately 20cm square and the suspension cables drop to a user-defined height on installation, making it adaptable to rooms with ceiling heights between 2.3m and 2.7m. Typical drop above a dining table is 700-850mm from ceiling to shade base.

The two-tier crystal arrangement gives the fitting visual depth when viewed from below, the upper tier comprises longer rectangular prisms standing vertically, while the lower tier uses shorter crystal droplets and beads to create a denser base layer. This tiered construction means the light pattern changes depending on viewing angle, with more sparkle visible when seated beneath the fitting than when standing. At 5.9kg the fitting requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or suitable fixing anchor.

What bulbs does the Alvera take?

The fitting takes five G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 28W maximum. G9 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W warm-white LED G9 capsules at 2700K-3000K for a warm ambient output that highlights the crystal without excessive glare.

What table size does it suit?

The 31cm square footprint works above dining tables between 90cm and 140cm in length. For tables larger than 140cm, consider the 9 light Alvera variant or a pair of the 5 light version spaced along the table length.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the G9 bulbs used and the dimmer switch. LED G9 bulbs require a compatible LED dimmer to avoid flickering. Halogen G9 bulbs typically dim smoothly on standard trailing-edge dimmers.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off at the mains before cleaning. Remove dust with a dry microfibre cloth or a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water on each crystal prism, wiping gently and drying immediately to avoid water marks on the chrome frame.
