Varo 6 Light Crystal Flush Ceiling Light - Gold

The Varo is a 52cm flush-mount ceiling light built around a gold-toned metal frame threaded with vertical crystal strands, with six G9 bulb positions set inside the drum. Crystal strands run from the outer rim toward the centre in a woven radial pattern, creating a basket-like structure that catches and refracts light from the six internal bulbs (sold separately). The 21cm height allows the fitting to sit close to the ceiling while still housing enough crystal to give decorative presence.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways, sitting rooms and dining areas with ceiling heights below 2.4m, the Varo provides ambient light without needing the clearance that a pendant or chandelier would require. The gold frame reflects warm tones onto ceilings and adjacent walls, working well in rooms with cream, beige, taupe or warm grey colour schemes. When paired with dimmable G9 LED bulbs the light can be adjusted between bright task lighting for daytime and softer ambient light for evenings.

The crystal strands are faceted to maximise light refraction, so when the bulbs are on the fitting throws small scattered points of light onto the ceiling and upper walls. The 3.5kg weight gives the fitting physical substance but still fits standard UK ceiling roses and mounting points without needing additional structural support. The gold finish has a brushed tone rather than high polish, reducing glare and allowing it to pair with both traditional brass fixtures and contemporary matt-gold hardware.

Six G9 bulbs at up to 33W each give the Varo a maximum combined output of approximately 2,000-2,500 lumens depending on the specific LED bulbs chosen, which is sufficient for a 16-20m² room used as a bedroom or sitting room. For larger spaces or rooms needing higher light levels, the Varo works as supplementary decorative lighting alongside recessed downlights or wall lights.

What bulbs does the Varo take?

The fitting takes six G9 capsule bulbs, each rated up to 33W. G9 bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose warm-white LED G9 capsules between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for domestic installations.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 21cm height makes it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upward, where a pendant or chandelier would hang too low. The flush-mount design sits close to the ceiling while still providing decorative crystal detail.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific G9 bulbs installed. If you use dimmable LED G9 capsules and pair them with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch, the Varo can be dimmed. Check the bulb packaging or manufacturer specifications before pairing with a dimmer.

How is the crystal maintained?

Turn off the power at the mains before cleaning. Use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe dust from the crystal strands. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the crystals or allowing water to run into the bulb holders. Do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners on the crystals or gold frame.
