Varo 5 Light Crystal Flush Ceiling Light - Chrome

The Varo is a 43cm flush crystal ceiling light with a shallow chrome frame supporting radiating strands of faceted crystal that fan outward from a central point. Five G9 bulb holders sit behind the crystal, casting light through the faceted glass to create prismatic reflections across the ceiling and surrounding walls. The entire fitting projects 20cm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways, landing areas and compact living rooms, the Varo provides ambient light through both direct output from the five bulbs and reflected light from the crystal strands. The flush mount attaches directly to a standard UK ceiling rose without requiring chain or rod suspension. The chrome finish on the frame and backplate reflects light while the concentric layers of crystal add textural depth when viewed from below.

The crystal strands are cut glass rather than acrylic, giving sharper refraction and heavier weight compared to budget alternatives. At 2.7kg the fitting requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or suitable anchor point, not just plasterboard alone. The G9 bulbs are sold separately, with most users choosing LED capsules between 3-5W per bulb and 2700K-3000K colour temperature to balance output with running cost. The 33W maximum rating allows halogen G9 bulbs if preferred, though LED provides equivalent brightness at lower consumption.

What bulbs does it take?

The Varo takes five G9 capsule bulbs up to 33W maximum total load. Bulbs are sold separately. LED G9 capsules at 3-5W per bulb and 2700K-3000K provide sufficient brightness for most bedroom and hallway applications while minimising running cost.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 20cm projection from ceiling to lowest point of the fitting makes it suitable for rooms with 2.4m standard ceiling heights, where a pendant would hang too low. The flush mount eliminates the drop typically associated with suspended crystal lights.

How is it fitted?

The chrome backplate attaches to a standard UK ceiling rose. At 2.7kg the fitting requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or suitable anchor point rather than plasterboard alone. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with current wiring regulations.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe individual crystal strands with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more thorough cleaning, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water can be used, but avoid soaking the fittings and do not spray cleaners directly onto the chrome or crystal.
