Description

The Straven is a 3-light iron chandelier built around a wide circular base in matt black, with three upward-facing arms radiating outward from the centre. Each arm terminates in a candle-style holder sized for an SES (E14) bulb up to 60W. Arched iron rods rise from the base to meet at a central finial above, giving the fitting a vertical lift and architectural presence despite its compact 30cm height.

Designed for dining tables, breakfast nooks and low-ceilinged spaces where a taller chandelier would overwhelm, the Straven works at heights as low as 2.2m. The 61cm diameter suits round or square tables up to 1.2m across, providing downward ambient light when paired with directional bulbs or lamp shades. Shades are sold separately and fit the tapered holders — candle-clip shades in fabric, paper or metal pair well with the industrial weight of the black iron frame.

The matt black finish absorbs rather than reflects light, creating strong tonal contrast against white ceilings or pale walls. The decorative scrolls at the base of each arm and the ball finials at the ends of the horizontal supports add a traditional decorative layer to an otherwise minimal iron framework. At 4kg the fitting has enough mass to feel substantial without requiring ceiling reinforcement beyond a standard hook plate.

What bulbs does the Straven take?

The chandelier takes three SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with candle-style LED bulbs in warm white (2700K) for a softer ambient effect, or opt for exposed filament bulbs to match the industrial aesthetic.

Are shades included?

No. The chandelier is sold without shades. The tapered holders accept standard candle-clip shades (the type that clip onto the bulb itself rather than the fitting). Fabric, paper or perforated metal shades work well with the black iron frame.
