Description

The Solara is a 46cm flush-mounted ceiling light with six G9 bulb positions set within a circular gold frame holding four horizontal bands of rectangular crystal panels. Each crystal sits in a gold bracket, creating a lattice structure that allows light to refract through the crystals and reflect off the mirrored gold backing behind them. The 18cm height from ceiling to base keeps the fitting close to the surface, making it suitable for rooms where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for bedrooms, living rooms and hallways with ceiling heights below 2.4m, the Solara provides ambient light that spreads across the ceiling plane and reflects down into the room. The flush mounting means no drop, so the light works in corridors, landings and alcoves where a suspended fitting would obstruct movement or feel disproportionate. The six G9 bulbs (sold separately) allow control over total brightness and colour temperature depending on whether you fit warm-white, cool-white or dimmable LEDs.

The rectangular crystals are arranged in offset horizontal rows around the circumference, creating depth through layering rather than a flat decorative surface. When lit, each crystal panel catches and scatters light at different angles depending on viewing position, giving the fitting visual movement as you move through the room. The gold frame is a warm metallic tone rather than polished brass or antique brass, sitting between the two in reflectivity and pairing with both warm neutrals and cooler greys. At 4kg the fitting requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or suitable backing board.

What bulbs does the Solara take?

The fitting takes six G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 33W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit G9 LED capsules between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for warm ambient light, or 4000K for cooler task lighting in a hallway or office.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The flush mounting sits 18cm from ceiling to base, so it works in rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a pendant would feel intrusive or where headroom is limited.

Can it be fitted to a plasterboard ceiling?

At 4kg the Solara requires secure fixing. If the ceiling rose sits over a joist the standard fixing is sufficient. On plasterboard ceilings without joist backing, use a hollow-wall anchor rated for 5kg or install a backing board between the plasterboard and the ceiling rose before mounting the fitting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you fit. If you use dimmable G9 LED bulbs the fitting can be controlled by a compatible LED dimmer. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer requirements before pairing with a dimmer switch.
