Description
The Solara is a 46cm flush-mounted crystal ceiling light with six G9 bulb positions arranged within a drum-shaped frame of polished chrome and rectangular crystal prisms. The cylindrical structure features three horizontal bands: the outer chrome rings hold faceted crystal panels in a grid formation, while a lower tier of smaller crystal droplets hangs from the base rim, creating a two-layer light effect.
Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.5m where pendant lights would hang too low, the Solara's 18cm projection suits dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and hallways requiring overhead light without reducing headroom. The flush-mount canopy fixes directly to a standard UK ceiling rose, and the six G9 bulbs (sold separately) sit recessed within the chrome structure so the crystals diffuse and refract the light rather than exposing bare bulb glare.
The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-bright reflective surface that amplifies the crystal facets, particularly effective in rooms with white or light-coloured ceilings where the ceiling itself becomes part of the reflected light pattern. Each rectangular crystal prism is precision-cut to catch and scatter light through the sides and face, giving the fitting a prismatic quality when lit. The 4kg weight requires secure ceiling fixing to a joist or suitable anchor point.
The grid arrangement of the crystals creates a geometric, architectural form distinct from the more common cascading or tiered crystal ceiling lights, making the Solara better suited to contemporary and mid-century interiors than to traditional or classical rooms. The chrome and crystal combination works in monochrome schemes, cool-toned greys, and spaces with chrome or stainless steel fixtures elsewhere.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Solara takes six G9 capsule bulbs with a combined maximum load of 33W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W each at 2700K-3000K for warm ambient light.
Is it suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. The 18cm projection from the ceiling makes it appropriate for rooms with ceiling heights as low as 2.3m, where a pendant light would hang too far into the room and reduce usable headroom.
How is the crystal cleaned?
Switch off the mains power. Wipe the chrome frame with a dry microfibre cloth. For the crystal panels, use a barely-damp microfibre cloth with distilled water, then dry immediately with a second dry cloth to prevent water marks. Do not use spray cleaners or chemical polishes on the crystals.
Can it be fitted to a sloped ceiling?
No. The Solara is designed for horizontal ceiling mounting only. The flush-mount canopy sits flat against the ceiling surface and cannot be angled to accommodate a slope.
