Description

The Solara is a 37cm flush-mounted crystal ceiling light built around a polished chrome drum frame, with five G9 bulb fittings arranged inside the frame. Rectangular and square faceted crystals are set into the drum's outer wall in alternating rows, while smaller crystals cascade below the frame as a decorative skirt. The 15cm height from ceiling to bottom edge of the crystals makes this suitable for rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for entrance halls, bedrooms, corridors and living rooms where ceiling clearance is limited, the Solara provides ambient light through the crystal diffusion rather than directed task light. The five G9 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the chrome drum, and their light passes through the crystals and reflects off the polished chrome, scattering across the ceiling and upper walls. The flush mount fixes directly to a standard UK ceiling rose without requiring a chain or rod suspension.

The polished chrome finish provides high reflectivity, amplifying the light output from the five bulbs and creating contrast against the clear crystals. Each rectangular crystal measures approximately 40mm x 25mm, while the square crystals are roughly 25mm x 25mm, all precision-cut to catch and refract light at multiple angles. At 3.3kg the fitting requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or reinforced plasterboard anchor rather than just a standard ceiling rose alone.

What bulbs does the Solara take?

The fitting takes five G9 capsule bulbs with a combined maximum wattage of 33W. G9 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED G9 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 15cm projection from ceiling to bottom crystal edge makes this one of the lower-profile crystal flush lights available, suitable for standard 2.4m ceiling heights in UK homes without dominating headroom.

How is the weight supported during installation?

At 3.3kg the fitting requires secure mounting. If your ceiling rose is not fixed directly to a joist, use plasterboard anchors rated for at least 5kg or locate a ceiling joist and fix a new mounting plate before installation.

How are the crystals cleaned?

Switch off the mains supply, allow bulbs to cool fully, then wipe each crystal with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal frame or allowing water to reach the bulb holders.
