Description
The Solara is a 159cm chrome floor lamp with a cylindrical shade built from horizontal rows of faceted crystal blocks arranged around a chrome frame. Three G9 bulb fittings inside the 32cm-diameter cylinder cast light through the crystal, creating a pattern of refracted light across walls and ceilings as the facets catch and split the beam.
Designed for placement beside sofas, in reading corners, or as a corner accent in open-plan living rooms and bedrooms, the Solara provides ambient rather than task lighting. The 159cm height places the shade at approximately eye level when seated, making it suitable for rooms with standard 2.4m ceilings where a full-height floor lamp would feel overbearing. The weighted chrome base provides stability without requiring wall attachment.
Each crystal block is cut with multiple facets, so the shade's appearance changes depending on viewing angle and whether the lamp is lit or unlit. When switched off the crystal reads as clear geometric blocks on chrome; when lit the facets create scattered prismatic reflections. The chrome finish on the stem and base is polished rather than brushed, so it reflects ambient room light and pairs with other polished metal finishes in contemporary and modern interiors.
The lamp accepts three G9 capsule bulbs up to 33W total output (sold separately). Most users pair it with warm-white LED G9 bulbs at 3W-5W each, which provide adequate ambient light without the heat output of halogen G9 bulbs. The 8.9kg weight gives the lamp a substantial presence that resists tipping on carpets and rugs.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Solara take?
The lamp requires three G9 capsule bulbs with a combined maximum wattage of 33W. Bulbs are sold separately. LED G9 bulbs at 3-5W each in warm white (2700K-3000K) are the most common pairing, providing ambient light without excessive heat.
Is the crystal shade fixed or removable?
The crystal blocks are mounted on a chrome frame structure that forms the shade. The shade can be removed from the stem for cleaning or bulb replacement, but the individual crystal blocks are not intended to be dismantled from the frame during normal use.
How is the crystal cleaned?
Switch off and allow the bulbs to cool fully before cleaning. Wipe each crystal block with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or smudges, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or allowing water to reach the bulb sockets.
What ceiling height is needed?
At 159cm tall, the Solara suits standard UK ceiling heights of 2.4m and above. In rooms with lower ceilings the shade may sit too close to eye level when standing, though it remains functional as ambient lighting.
